About | The Yachties

How The Yachties Came Together

The Yachties were born out of Kansas City and Springfield's thriving live music scenes, anchored by founding members of The M80s and Innuendo, bands known for their powerhouse shows and devoted followings. We added the sparkle of Atlantic Express and City Girls vocalists, fusing seasoned musicianship with disco-driven energy.

Originally known as Yachtly Groove, the band soon evolved into The Yachties, reflecting a bigger vision: a crew dedicated to smooth yacht rock grooves, glittering disco rhythms, and unforgettable live performances.

Our Signature Sound

What makes The Yachties more than a cover band? It’s the attention to detail to include the layered harmonies, the authentic instrumentation, and the seamless shift from soft rock ballads to dance-floor anthems. Think Steely Dan’s smooth precision followed by Donna Summer’s glittering groove, all in one set.

Meet the Crew

Every smooth voyage needs a strong crew and The Yachties bring the Midwest’s finest. Curt Whitaker and Ed Valdez bring their polished harmonies and showmanship from The M80s, while Paul Thomlinson adds his musical depth . Holding down the groove, Brian Pitts drives the rhythm section, and topping it all off is our superstar “dancing queen,” Brandy Wilson of Atlantic Express, whose powerhouse vocals light up every stage.

Together, they deliver the smooth authenticity of yacht rock with the glittering energy of a disco dance floor creating a polished, irresistible sound.

Why Audiences Love Us

Fans call our shows “the ultimate throwback dance party” and “a perfect mix of nostalgia and nonstop fun.” From private events and weddings to city festivals and corporate parties, The Yachties bring the soundtrack that keeps every crowd singing, swaying, and moving.
